Silver (XAG/USD) trades near $66–67 per ounce in early September 2026 after swinging from late-August highs near $72 to lows around $63, driven primarily by shifting Federal Reserve rate expectations. Hawkish signals from Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole lifted September hike odds above 60 percent, supporting Treasury yields and the dollar while pressuring non-yielding metals. Persistent structural deficits of roughly 46 million ounces, fueled by industrial use in solar, EVs, and AI hardware, provide a floor, though recent solar demand softness has tempered that support. Traders now focus on the September 16 FOMC decision, upcoming CPI and jobs data, and any dollar or real-yield moves that could shift the gold-silver ratio from its current ~64–65 level.
