Top players like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz enter the 2026 US Open as the primary factors shaping trader expectations for round-of-16 advancement, with Sinner’s elite hard-court record and recent form contrasting Alcaraz’s return from a wrist injury that sidelined him since April. Alcaraz’s mixed-doubles appearance alongside Serena Williams served as a key fitness test ahead of the August 30 main draw, while Sinner’s status adds uncertainty to early-round projections. Draw positioning, recent hard-court results from events like the Cincinnati Open, and official injury reports further influence implied probabilities, as qualifiers and lower-ranked entrants face steeper paths against seeded opponents on the fast Flushing Meadows surface. Late roster or health updates could shift consensus in the 128-player field.
