Trump publicly endorsed renaming Immigration and Customs Enforcement to National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (NICE) in late April 2026 after a social media suggestion, posting memes and holding a June poll favoring the change to counter media framing during expanded deportation operations. Any official shift requires congressional legislation rather than unilateral executive action, and reports indicate resistance from ICE agents and border czar Tom Homan, who viewed it as unnecessary amid priorities like increased funding, hiring surges, and enforcement under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Trader consensus prices reflect these procedural and internal hurdles, with low implied probabilities tied to the absence of legislative movement or formal announcements through mid-2026. Key variables ahead include Senate confirmation of new ICE leadership and any floor votes on agency restructuring before year-end deadlines.
