Democratic Rep. Adam Gray, who flipped the seat in 2024 by under 200 votes, advanced from the June 2026 top-two primary alongside Republican Kevin Lincoln. California’s Proposition 50 redistricting, approved in 2025, shifted the district’s boundaries to include more Democratic-leaning areas such as parts of Stockton, improving the partisan lean and giving Gray an incumbency advantage in a now safer environment. Nonpartisan ratings classify the race as Lean Democratic, with the general election set for November 2026. These factors underpin trader consensus favoring the Democratic nominee at 89.5% implied probability over the Republican at 10.5%.
