This market will resolve to "Yes" if Valve releases a new hero for Dota 2 by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No." For the purposes of this market, a "new hero" is defined as a playable hero not previously available in Dota 2 that is fully implemented and accessible to all players in the live game client. An announcement, teaser, or trailer for an upcoming hero does not qualify on its own; the hero must be playable. A hero available only in a test, beta, or experimental client does not qualify. Reworks, remakes, or renamed versions of existing heroes do not qualify. For the purpose of this market, "Valve" refers to Valve Corporation, the developer and publisher of Dota 2. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Valve; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.**Valve’s irregular hero release cadence, with gaps typically spanning 8–12 months or longer, underpins the 63% market-implied odds for a new playable Dota 2 hero by December 31, 2026.** Largo, the bard-frog support hero, arrived in patch 7.40 on December 16, 2025, following a 403-day wait after Kez in late 2024—consistent with Valve’s post-7.00 pattern of one to a few original heroes per year rather than any fixed schedule. No new hero has launched in 2026 despite major content drops, including the June Dark Carnival event with Automaton Personas and the August International. Datamined files have surfaced hints of an unreleased character (such as Arjun with chariot-themed abilities), but these remain unconfirmed and do not count toward resolution. Traders view the roughly 12-month window from Largo’s debut as aligning with historical precedent for a late-year or post-TI drop, while acknowledging Valve’s history of extended delays and lack of official confirmation creates meaningful downside risk. Key near-term catalysts include potential balance patches, seasonal events, or holiday-timed updates through year-end. The market prices in a modest edge for “Yes” based on rhythm and community data-mining signals, tempered by the inherent unpredictability of Valve’s development priorities.
