**Recent opinion polls ahead of the September 6, 2026 Sachsen-Anhalt Landtag election show the SPD consistently ahead of the BSW in projected vote share.** Latest surveys from pollytix (August 12), INSA (August 10), and Infratest dimap (late July) place the SPD at 6–7% and the BSW at 4–5%, with the established Social Democrats maintaining a narrow but stable edge over the newer party. The BSW, contesting the state election for the first time after its 2024 founding, has focused on building local structures and fielding co-lead candidates Thomas Schulze and Claudia Wittig, with Sahra Wagenknecht appearing at campaign events in August. However, its support has remained flat near the 5% threshold amid competition from the stronger-performing Left Party (around 13%). The SPD, led by Armin Willingmann, benefits from its established organizational presence despite modest overall numbers. With the election less than two weeks away and no major recent polling shifts, traders view the SPD as the clear favorite to secure the higher vote total between the two.
