If Nicolás Maduro is released on parole, bond, or any other condition that results in them leaving state custody, the market will resolve to "Yes". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from government authorities or corrections departments; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Nicolás Maduro has remained in US federal custody in Brooklyn since his January 3, 2026 capture by US military forces during an operation that removed him from power in Venezuela. He and his wife face drug-trafficking charges in Manhattan federal court, where they pleaded not guilty; a June 2027 trial date was set in July 2026. Venezuelan officials, including the acting government, have issued repeated diplomatic demands for his release, describing the detention as unlawful and pressing the matter at the UN. Key variables shaping outcomes include ongoing legal motions, possible appeals, bilateral negotiations, executive clemency decisions, or shifts in US-Venezuela policy ahead of the trial window. No release has occurred as of early August 2026.
