Don Mattingly leads trader consensus for the Phillies’ next manager after his April 28 appointment as interim skipper following Rob Thomson’s dismissal amid the team’s 9-19 start. The club has posted a strong turnaround under Mattingly, including an early 16-5 stretch that has elevated his implied probability to 42 percent. Alex Cora ranks second at 25 percent despite earlier discussions with Philadelphia’s front office that ended when he prioritized family time after his Red Sox exit. Will Venable and Omar López sit at 17 and 15.8 percent as in-house or coaching-staff options with recent MLB bench experience. Other listed candidates, including former managers like Brandon Hyde and Rocco Baldelli, reflect broader speculation around external hires once the 2026 season concludes and a permanent decision is evaluated.
