Qinwen Zheng enters this US Open qualifying matchup as the clear favorite against fellow Chinese player Xiaodi You, driven by her significantly higher ranking near No. 125-127, Grand Slam pedigree including a 2024 Australian Open final, and Olympic gold medal. Despite elbow surgery limiting her to an 11-13 record in 2026 and a recent Toronto qualifying exit, Zheng's experience on outdoor hard courts and overall level provide a substantial edge in the opening round. You, ranked around No. 198-276 with a career-high near 166, has compiled modest results primarily at lower tiers and faces a steep challenge against a player of Zheng's caliber returning to form. The hard-court surface aligns with both players' backgrounds, but Zheng's superior power and consistency position her strongly for advancement.
