Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula meet in the Cincinnati Open final on outdoor hard courts after both advanced through demanding semifinals on August 22. Fourth-seeded Gauff, the 2023 champion, dispatched unseeded Sara Bejlek 6-4, 6-1 following Bejlek’s earlier upsets of world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Third-seeded Pegula ended defending champion Iga Swiatek’s 10-match winning streak with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 victory in nearly three hours, securing her tour-leading 45th win of 2026 and 300th career tour-level victory. Pegula leads the head-to-head 5-4 overall and 3-1 on hard courts, though Gauff claimed their most recent encounters in the 2025 Wuhan final and 2026 Wimbledon quarterfinals. Both players enter with strong hard-court form and seek multiple finals appearances this season.
