The rubber match of the three-game series at Comerica Park features the AL East-leading Rays (78-54) against the Tigers (62-70), who sit on the fringes of the AL wild-card race. Detroit enters after snapping a six-game skid with a 4-1 win on Tuesday behind Max Clark’s two-run homer and five scoreless innings of relief, while Tampa Bay dropped eight of its prior 12 before Monday’s 4-1 victory paced by Drew Rasmussen’s six strong innings and Jonathan Aranda’s homer. Starting pitching heavily influences pricing, with Tigers right-hander Troy Melton (7-2, 1.60 ERA) opposing Rays right-hander Freddy Peralta (5-11, 5.33 ERA). Multiple Tigers position players remain on the injured list, including Riley Greene and Kerry Carpenter, while both clubs carry pitching depth concerns. Home-field factors and recent bullpen effectiveness have tilted recent trader consensus toward the Tigers in the series finale.
