Detroit Tigers enter this series at Oracle Park with tangible playoff implications, sitting at 56-59 and within striking distance of the AL wild card while riding a 6-4 mark in their last 10 games. San Francisco, at 48-67 and well out of NL West contention, focuses on development and has posted a respectable 26-27 home record. Keider Montero anchors Detroit’s rotation with an 8-6 record and 3.17 ERA, highlighted by a recent six-inning shutout, while the Giants counter with Rafael Devers pacing the club in home runs and RBIs. Both clubs carry notable injury lists—Tigers absences include Verlander and several relievers—yet the matchup hinges on Detroit’s road execution against a Giants club capable of competing at home despite the overall disparity in standings.
