Jerome Kym and Tom Gentzsch meet in the Hagen Challenger final on outdoor clay, where Kym’s higher ranking and recent semifinal win over Elmer Moller 6-1 7-6(4) position him as the stronger favorite. Gentzsch, the German qualifier, advanced by defeating Henri Squire in the quarterfinals and carries momentum from strong clay results earlier in the season. Their head-to-head is split 1-1, with Gentzsch’s prior 6-2 6-3 victory coming on the same surface, though Kym has posted better results against higher-level opposition this year. Both players enter the match with limited rest after deep runs, making fitness and serving consistency on the slower clay courts the key variables that could influence the outcome.
