Key recent drivers include a July 2026 White House-directed leak investigation he oversaw involving New York Times reporting on Air Force One security, earlier media accounts of alleged absences and personal travel practices that prompted ethics complaints, and public disputes over social media posts disclosing case details. These developments, alongside prior reporting on an email breach and internal agency tensions, have shaped market pricing around near-term departure probabilities while highlighting structural barriers to removal for a presidential appointee. Scheduled oversight hearings and major operational responsibilities, such as post-World Cup security assessments, represent upcoming catalysts that could influence sentiment.
