This market will resolve to “Yes” if Carles Puigdemont physically enters the terrestrial territory of Spain at any point between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. Territory will be considered Spanish if it is administered by Spain at the time of Carles Puigdemont's presence, regardless of whether the territory is disputed. Unless Spain begins to administer the territory, Gibraltar will not count. Whether or not Puigdemont enters Spanish airspace or maritime territory during the timeframe of this market will have no bearing on a positive resolution. The resolution source will be a consensus of credible reporting, including photographs or video from reputable media outlets.**Trader consensus heavily favors "No" at 84% implied probability because Puigdemont remains in Belgian exile as of early September 2026, with Spanish courts continuing to block full application of the 2023 amnesty law to his case.** The July 2026 CJEU ruling broadly upheld the amnesty against EU-law challenges, providing political momentum and arguments for his side, yet it left the national arrest warrant intact. The Supreme Court has repeatedly refused to drop charges tied to alleged malversation and personal enrichment from 2017 referendum funds, a stance reaffirmed in prior rulings. Resolution now hinges on the Constitutional Court, which is scheduled to address related appeals only after the summer recess—likely September or October 2026 at the earliest—with any favorable outcome still requiring Supreme Court compliance that has proven elusive. His sole recent return was a brief, high-profile August 2024 appearance in Barcelona followed by another swift exit to avoid arrest. Optimistic scenarios from his Junts allies point to a possible safe return no earlier than late 2026 or into 2027, often tied to symbolic dates or the 2027 regional elections, underscoring the procedural hurdles and judicial resistance that keep the near-term odds low. Market sentiment reflects these entrenched legal and political barriers over rapid resolution.
