A person will be considered to formally assume the position of United States Secretary of the Army if they are appointed to the position by the President and confirmed by the Senate, or if they assume the position through a recess appointment. Acting or interim holders of the specified position do not qualify. If no individual assumes the position by January 19, 2029 at 11:59PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source for this market will be official information from the White House or United States Senate; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Army Secretary Dan Driscoll resigned in early September 2026 amid reported tensions with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, prompting President Trump to name Adam Telle as acting secretary. Telle, previously confirmed as assistant secretary for civil works, bypassed undersecretary Michael Obadal in the interim role. Pentagon allies have pushed spokesperson Sean Parnell as Hegseth’s preferred permanent pick, while Marc Andersen, the Army comptroller, draws support for preserving modernization priorities. Other names under consideration include Brian Mast, Charles Young III, and Derrick Anderson, with Senate confirmation prospects and internal administration dynamics shaping the field. The absence of a formal nomination keeps implied probabilities clustered among several contenders, reflecting uncertainty over White House priorities and legislative hurdles ahead of any Senate vote.
