South Korea ETF EWY, which tracks the MSCI Korea Index with roughly 40-50% exposure to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, has posted a 94% year-to-date gain through early September 2026, trading near $189 after a June peak above $220. The primary driver remains the AI memory supercycle, with robust high-bandwidth memory demand supporting projected 300%+ 2026 earnings growth for KOSPI constituents and forward P/E ratios near 5 times. Institutional forecasts, including Goldman Sachs' 12,000 KOSPI target, reflect continued hyperscaler capex momentum into 2027, though concentration risk, potential AI spending normalization, foreign outflows, and Bank of Korea tightening introduce volatility. Traders monitor upcoming semiconductor earnings and U.S. tech capital expenditure updates for shifts in implied probabilities.
