Atlético Madrid enters the 2026-27 La Liga campaign as the clear market favorite to finish third, bolstered by summer reinforcements including Cristian Romero, Morten Hjulmand, Lee Kang-in, and Jonathan David on loan, while retaining Julián Álvarez amid transfer interest. Pre-season models such as Opta’s simulations positioned Diego Simeone’s side as the leading contender for the final Champions League berth behind Barcelona and Real Madrid, citing squad depth and the manager’s track record in securing top-four finishes. Barcelona and Real Madrid, each at 20%, sit atop early standings after strong starts but are priced lower for exactly third due to expectations they will occupy the top two spots. Villarreal, Real Betis, and a cluster of mid-table sides trail with competitive but lower implied probabilities, reflecting an open race for European places once the established hierarchy asserts itself over the long schedule.
