Stefanos Tsitsipas enters the Cincinnati Open first-round matchup against Valentin Royer as the clear favorite on outdoor hard courts, buoyed by his recent EFG Swiss Open Gstaad title—his first since early 2025—and a 2026 record near 23-17 that includes multiple three-set wins. Ranked around No. 51-53, Tsitsipas brings far greater ATP 1000 experience, including a 2022 Cincinnati final, while the French No. 78 Royer sits at 3-16 on the year with a career-high ranking of 54 reached earlier in 2026. No prior head-to-head exists, but Tsitsipas’s superior serve, return consistency, and recent momentum on varied surfaces create a significant gap that traders weigh against the possibility of an early hard-court rust or unforced errors in the opening round.
