Both players arrive at the US Open qualifying draw on hard courts with disappointing 2026 records, Djere sitting near No. 211-238 after a 1-5 mark and recent first-round exit in Kitzbühel, while Muller holds around No. 136 amid an 11-19 campaign marked by early losses in ATP and challenger events. Djere owns the lone prior meeting, defeating Muller in straight sets at the 2025 Buenos Aires ATP event, though surface and timing differences limit direct comparison. Neither has shown consistent momentum entering late August, with qualification success hinging on current fitness, serve efficiency on outdoor hard, and ability to handle the fast New York conditions against a similarly inconsistent opponent.
