The 2026-27 NHL season opens with a wide-open Stanley Cup field, as reflected in the bunched Polymarket pricing clustered around 10% for Carolina, Colorado, and Florida. The defending champion Hurricanes retain strong depth and recent playoff pedigree, while the Avalanche lean on their elite core of Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar after a dominant prior regular season. The Panthers have bolstered their forward group with key additions and returning talent, positioning them as co-favorites. Parity across the league, driven by balanced rosters, recent free-agency moves, and the absence of a clear superpower, keeps implied probabilities tightly grouped among roughly a dozen realistic contenders entering training camp.
