This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. If no permanent manager is appointed by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Philadelphia Phillies; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The Phillies dismissed Rob Thomson in late April 2026 following a 9-19 start, prompting president Dave Dombrowski to offer the role first to Alex Cora, who declined to prioritize family time. Bench coach Don Mattingly was then installed as interim manager through the remainder of the 2026 season. Reports indicate Mattingly is unlikely to receive the permanent position, positioning Cora—who shares ties to Dombrowski—as the leading candidate for the 2027 opening once the interim period concludes. Other names on the market, including internal options like George Lombard and external candidates such as Carlos Beltrán, reflect broader interest in experienced MLB managers but trail due to limited recent connections to the front office or the ongoing season’s focus on Mattingly’s interim tenure.
