This market will resolve according to the person who is appointed as the next permanent manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. If no permanent manager is appointed by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, the market will resolve to "Other." Appointments of 'interim,' 'caretaker,' or other non-permanent managers will not impact this market's resolution. An announcement of a new permanent manager's appointment before this market's close date will immediately resolve this market to the corresponding option, regardless of when the announced appointment goes into effect. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Philadelphia Phillies; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used. The Philadelphia Phillies fired manager Rob Thomson after a 9-19 start in April 2026, installing bench coach Don Mattingly as interim skipper amid a slow start from a high-payroll roster. President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski had offered the job to Alex Cora immediately after the Red Sox dismissed him, but Cora declined to prioritize family time; his strong prior relationship with Dombrowski and track record now position him as the leading candidate in trader consensus at 31.8%. Mattingly sits at 14.5% while guiding an improved club still chasing the NL East, with reports indicating he would need a deep playoff run or World Series appearance to retain the role permanently. Other names including Ryan Flaherty and Bruce Bochy reflect internal promotions or external veteran options under consideration for the 2027 opening, as the front office continues restructuring player development roles.
