Incumbent Democrat Don Davis faces a Republican challenger in North Carolina’s 1st District under a 2025 redrawn map that shifted the seat roughly eight points rightward and relocated his residence, creating a more competitive environment after his narrow 2024 victory. Traders assign Democrats a 55.5% implied probability and Republicans 43.5%, reflecting Davis’s strong fundraising—nearly $2 million raised this cycle—and incumbency advantages against the structural GOP tilt noted by analysts. Multiple Republicans, including 2024 nominee Laurie Buckhout, compete in the primary to select the general-election opponent, with the outcome hinging on turnout patterns, candidate consolidation, and any late-cycle developments before the November 2026 vote.
