Abdul El-Sayed secured the Democratic nomination in Michigan’s open U.S. Senate race after a narrow August 4 primary victory over Haley Stevens, setting up a November 3 general election matchup against Republican nominee Mike Rogers. Traders assign El-Sayed an 82% chance of carrying Kent County, reflecting his demonstrated strength in western Michigan counties during the primary and ongoing campaign focus on economic issues that resonate in the Grand Rapids area. Rogers, a former congressman with regional ties, holds a lower 13.5% implied probability for the county, consistent with the competitive statewide environment where Democratic performance in suburban and urban pockets can offset Republican advantages elsewhere. Minor candidates and other options sit near even odds, underscoring the market’s emphasis on the two major-party nominees. Upcoming debates and fall polling in battleground counties remain key variables that could shift county-level assessments.
