Democrat Christina Bohannan holds a polling edge over Republican incumbent Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Iowa’s 1st congressional district, a competitive seat Trump carried by just 0.5 points in 2024. July surveys, including a Bullfinch Group poll, show Bohannan leading by 3 to 5 points in a head-to-head matchup, while earlier aggregates placed her slightly ahead of the incumbent. Both candidates secured their nominations comfortably in the June primaries, setting up a November general election that forecasters rate as a toss-up or lean Democratic. An independent candidate draws modest support but has low name recognition. These factors underpin the market’s stronger consensus behind the Democratic nominee.
