DeVonta Smith enters the 2026 NFL season as the Philadelphia Eagles’ clear No. 1 wide receiver after A.J. Brown’s offseason trade to New England, positioning him for elevated target volume in an offense featuring new coordinator Sean Mannion. Smith’s 2025 output of 77 receptions came as the secondary option behind Brown; projections now anticipate career-high targets and catches if he maintains health and efficiency, particularly operating more frequently outside. A hamstring injury limited his training camp and preseason participation, though he returned to full practice by late August and is expected to be available for Week 1. Additions including rookie Makai Lemon, Marquise Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, and Elijah Moore introduce competition for targets alongside tight end Dallas Goedert and running back Saquon Barkley in a unit that has emphasized the run game.
